Last year Xperia 1 haven’t been getting best reviews – not best photo quality, not best speakers, not best battery. Looked like phone were very average. But that’s not the point, Xperia 1 were created for professionals wanted to have RAW material from their camera and be able to edit it after. Xperia 1 were having great video manual mode allowing keeping great amount of dynamic range. Examples of such material, after editing you can see here:
It were also having 4K screen. That’s right, most of the smartphones don’t reach 3K. This kind of screen were allowing very precisely viewing actual footage that is taken with the phone.
This year Xperia 1 II is not hiding it’s targeted to professionals. I think it’s good idea, to not compare these phones with others mainstream devices. Sony is telling truly that their devices are not trying to be best-selling flagships, instead of this – it’s more a tool for professional photo/video photographer.
