iQoo, a sub-brand of vivo, has launched its latest flagship smartphones, the iQoo 12 and iQoo 12 Pro, in China on November 7. These devices are among the first to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which promises to deliver a superior performance and gaming experience.

The iQoo 12 and iQoo 12 Pro have a lot in common, such as a 6.78-inch OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, a 16MP selfie camera, a 5100mAh battery with 120W wired and 50W wireless charging, and up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. However, they also have some differences that set them apart.

The iQoo 12 has a flat display sourced from BOE, with a resolution of 1.5K, a peak brightness of 3000 nits, and a 2160Hz PWM dimming. The iQoo 12 Pro has a curved-edge display from Samsung, with a resolution of 2K, a peak brightness of 2700 nits, and a 1440Hz PWM dimming. The iQoo 12 also has an optical in-screen fingerprint scanner, while the iQoo 12 Pro has an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor.

The iQoo 12 series also boasts a triple camera setup on the back, with a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 64MP telephoto camera. The iQoo 12 has a standard telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, while the iQoo 12 Pro has a periscope telephoto lens with 10x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom. The iQoo 12 Pro also supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing, which enhances the lighting, reflections, and shadows in mobile games.

The iQoo 12 series comes in three color variants: black, white, and red. The red variant has a leather finish and a BMW M Motorsport branding, as part of iQoo’s collaboration with the car company. The iQoo 12 series also features a large vibration motor, symmetrical dual stereo speakers, Hi-Res Audio, and a Q1 E-sports chip that optimizes the gaming performance.

The iQoo 12 series is priced at 650 EUR for the base model with 256GB storage, and goes up to 850 EUR for the top model with 1TB storage. The iQoo 12 series is expected to compete with other flagship smartphones such as the Xiaomi 14 Pro, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, and the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max.
